VOCE DIALOGUES

VOCE DIALOGUES

Voices of Compassionate Evolution

Why The VOCE Dialogues?
Given the turmoil that humanity faces – individually and collectively – I am grateful to the many practitioners, creative collaborators, friends and teachers, around the world, who are participating with me in unlocking the sacred and transformative power of compassionate communication – spoken, sung, silent. I am privileged to invite some of these remarkable beings to share their diverse artistic practices, wisdom voices, and visionary teachings in the forthcoming online series of audio-visual conversations – VOCE Dialogues – thus highlighting the transformative and evolutionary power of artistic expression as a spiritual practice.

We look forward to sharing the fruits of this work with you soon!

Compassion
The art of ‘being with’, expressing and sharing generosity and kindness – with yourself and with others – with no attachment to the outcome. Compassion requires us to listen without judgement, to acknowledge and to respond to our own or another’s suffering with an awareness, and a skillful means, not driven by emotional reactivity, and the false motives of separateness or fear. Compassion is a feeling that arises when you feel motivated to relieve suffering. Compassion is not empathy or altruism, though the concepts are related. Being compassionate is not being a doormat, and letting others walk all over you. While empathy refers more generally to our ability to acknowledge painful emotion triggered by suffering of whatever kind, compassion is when those feelings and thoughts include the desire to help / to respond / to transform / to evolve.

Dialogues
Compassionate communication uncovers an all-inclusive way of being, listening and communicating that awakens the intention to inquire, to communicate the truth, to allow diverse possibility, rigorous out-of-the-box questions, and robust outcomes to emerge with courage, honesty, discernment, co-operation, and the grace of humility. A dialogue is like a musical improvisation between two people that invokes a harmonic resonance, that is deeper than an intellectual interview, or a combative debate, both of which are based on an attachment to safe narrative, or a winning outcome. Dialogue gives both voices equal responsibility for travelling somewhere they have never been, and with that the willingness to surrender attachment to already taken-for-granted outcomes. Dialogue invites a compassionate quality of giving and receiving, and evolving new possibilities, sourced from silence and a wisdom that is older and deeper than the polarity of all conflict. Compassionate dialogue leads us home to the source of all true communication – unconditional presence. A compassionate learning and listening environment can generate unique and ground-breaking opportunities for awakening enabling us to integrate our highest aspirations with our grounded purpose on Earth.
